1. Mesothelioma is a rare disease. Howeve it is estimated that approx 2,000 to 3,000 new cases of mesothelioma occur each year in the United States.
2. The incidence of mesotheliomas in the United States increased substantially from 1970 to 1990 and then stabilized.
3. The disease is on the downswing now a days, however an interesting observation is that the increase in disease has been observed in men.
